It's hard to believe, but the Hawaiian Islands are the most remote islands in the world, as they are located further from any other land mass than any other island group within the tropics, there is no winter as such. The weather is warm and warmer. More rain falls in December through March, but rain falls at all times.

Hawaii's six major islands are all volcanic. Each one is unique in it's topography, weather and history. The youngest of these, Hawaii, also known as the Big Island, yet not named is still getting bigger, since its active volcano continues to add land mass. Is growing deep beneath the ocean and will emerge in another 10,000 years or so.

Witness the humpback whales in the winter, who arrive by the hundreds to give birth.

Hawaii is also home to some of the more endangered bird species than any other place on earth, and thousands of endangered turtles live and forge in its abundant reefs. Hawaii has strict protection in place to insure the its remaining forests and reefs will continue to provide sanctuary for this important species.
